CLEP Spanish with Writing Exam Scoring
The CLEP Spanish with Writing exam combines multiple-choice and writing scores:
- Multiple-choice section: 75% of total score
- Writing section: 25% of total score
Scores are reported as a single scaled score ranging from 20 to 80. Separate section scores are not provided.
Because the writing tasks are scored by college Spanish faculty, official scores are available approximately 1–2 weeks after the test date, rather than immediately.

Credit Recommendations
The CLEP Spanish with Writing exam covers both Level 1 and Level 2 content. Credit awarded depends on your score.
According to American Council on Education recommendations:

- Equivalent to a first-year Spanish course

- Score of 65
