The CLEP French Language exam measures your ability to understand spoken and written French, covering material typically taught across two to four semesters of college-level French.

CLEP® French Language Exam Outline
The CLEP French Language exam evaluates listening and reading comprehension across three major sections:
I. Listening: Rejoinders (15%)

- Select the CLEP French Language exam

- Pay the $97 exam fee

Testing Options
Testing In-Person
On test day:

Scoring Information
CLEP exams are scored based on the number of correct answers:
- One point for each correct answer
- No penalty for incorrect or unanswered questions
Your raw score is converted to a scaled score ranging from approximately 20 to 80.

- An official score report available the next day in your CLEP account
Credit Recommendations
The American Council on Education recommends:
- 6 college credits for a score of 50
- 12 college credits for a score of 59
