What is the CLEP Biology Exam?
The College Board administers the College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®), which offers affordable exams that allow students to earn college credit for knowledge they already have.
The CLEP Biology exam assesses your understanding of molecular, cellular, organismal, and population biology. Instead of taking a full semester biology course, you can take this single exam and receive college credit if you pass.
By taking and passing the CLEP Biology exam, you may:
- Earn three or more college credits
- Save money since the exam costs far less than a college semester
- Graduate on time or possibly ahead of schedule
- Add flexibility to your degree program
Before registering, you should confirm with your college that they accept CLEP Biology scores.

The CLEP Biology exam is available to anyone. There are:
- No age restrictions

- No penalty for skipped questions
Your total correct answers become your raw score, which is then converted into a scaled score ranging from 20 to approximately 80.
