Scoring Information
The Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205) exam uses a scaled scoring system to ensure fair results for all test-takers. Each correct question earns one raw point. After testing, the total raw score is converted to a scaled score that ranges from 100 to 200.
Most states require a passing score of 159, although passing standards vary by state. Scaled scoring is necessary because different versions of the exam are not identical.
Each test form includes a unique mix of questions, and some versions may be slightly more challenging than others. Scaling adjusts for these differences so candidates are evaluated consistently, regardless of which form they take.
Official Praxis scores are typically available within three to four weeks after the exam, and test-takers receive an email when scores are posted.
During registration, scores can be sent to up to four designated recipients at no cost. Additional score reports may be sent later for a fee, but recipients must be selected when registering.
