Conductors are substances that allow electric current and heat to flow through them while insulators do not. To determine whether a substance was a conductor or an insulator, as student collected aluminium, copper, steel, and glass and followed the procedure below;

  1. Fill a beaker with hot water
  2. Fill another beaker with equal amount of cold water
  3. Connect the beakers with the materials to be tested
  4. After three minutes, record the temperature of water in each beaker
  5. Repeat each set-up using each material
