GACE 721 History (6–12) Study Guide Exam Outline

The GACE History (6–12) (721) exam assesses the historical knowledge and analytical skills required to teach history in grades 6–12 in Georgia public schools. Developed by Pearson on behalf of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC), this assessment measures your understanding of U.S. history, world history, historical thinking skills, and the ability to interpret historical sources.

GACE History (6–12) Exam Test Format and Structure
The GACE History (6–12) assessment is a computer-based examination consisting entirely of selected-response (multiple-choice) questions. The exam is divided into four independently scored testlets that may be taken together during one testing appointment or separately over multiple appointments.

Scoring Information
The GACE History (6–12) exam uses a scaled scoring system ranging from 100 to 300.
To earn certification, candidates must:
- Achieve a cumulative scaled score of 220
- Meet the minimum required performance ("floor score") on each individual testlet
Unofficial results are generally available immediately after completing your assessment, while official score reports are released according to Pearson's published score reporting schedule.
The current examination fee for the complete History (6–12) assessment is $169, although candidates taking individual testlets pay only for those testlets.

GACE History (6–12) Registration and Costs
Candidates can register for the GACE History (6–12) assessment through their Pearson GACE account.
After creating an account, candidates can:
- Select one or more testlets
- Choose an available testing date
