Important Certification Update

The TExES Special Education EC–12 (161) exam has been retired and replaced by the Special Education Specialist EC–12 (186) exam as part of Texas certification updates. However, many educator preparation programs and certification candidates continue to use the 161 framework, competencies, and study materials when building foundational special education knowledge.
