Florida GED Test Retake Policies

• Number of Retakes 

There is no limit to the number of times you can take the GED test in Florida. However, you must pay the full test fee after taking the test three times. This means that if you fail to pass the test after three attempts, you will need to pay the full price for each subsequent attempt. It is essential to prepare well and make the most of your retakes to achieve your goal.

• Retaking a Subject

 If you don’t pass a subject, you are eligible for two discounted retakes per subject area. After these two retakes, you must pay the full price to retake the test.  This discounted retake policy allows you to make adjustments and improve your performance before committing to the full test fee.

If you fail again, you can take two more retakes at the reduced rate, but it is crucial to review and improve your skills to pass the test.

• Waiting Period

If you do not pass a subject after three attempts, you must wait at least 60 days before attempting again and will need to pay full price to retake the test. 

This waiting period is designed to help you reflect on your performance, identify areas for improvement, and prepare better for your next attempt. It is essential to use this time wisely to enhance your skills and knowledge.

• Cost of Retake

The cost to retake a subject in Florida is $32 per module. The total cost to retake each of the four subtests is $128 for first-time test-takers. For each GED® test subject you buy but do not pass, you will be granted two discounted retakes.

Those who need to retake the test are eligible to receive two discounted retake opportunities per subject area. This discounted rate is a significant advantage, as it allows you to retake the test without incurring the full cost. 

However, if you fail to pass after these two discounted retakes, you will need to pay the full price of $32 per module. These retakes must be utilized within 365 days following your full-price test

Once you have availed yourself of two retakes at the reduced price, the subject’s test fee reverts to the standard rate. In the event of another unsuccessful attempt, you will receive two more retakes at the reduced rate. 

While GED Testing Service waives its $20 testing fee, please note that additional testing fees may still be applicable in your state. In Florida, there is a $12 test center fee for test retakes.

How Can I Request my GED Transcript/Diploma in Florida?

The Florida Department of Education holds the official records for the High School Equivalency Diploma Program. Diploma and transcript services are provided by Parchment/GED Testing Service on behalf of the Florida Department of Education.

How Do I Get My Initial Transcript and Diploma in Florida?

• Printed Diploma

The free printed diploma can be ordered through your GED account at GED.com. After logging in, go to My Scores and select Order Duplicates. Choose the Printed Diploma – Free option. You will be asked for the recipient’s name and mailing address. The free diploma link is available only until it has been used once. Follow the ordering instructions carefully.

• Electronic Diploma and Transcript

Upon passing all GED test subjects and earning your diploma, free electronic diploma and transcript download links will be emailed to the address associated with your GED account. These links are available for a limited time, so download and save your documents right away. Follow the instructions in the email. 

These PDF documents can be forwarded to employers and colleges that accept electronic credentials. The PDF documents are verified by GED Testing Service/Parchment each time they are opened using Blue Ribbon Security. The blue ribbon symbol ensures that the digital credential is valid, authentic, and unaltered.

How Do I Get a Duplicate GED Transcript And/or Diploma for a College, Employer, or Myself?

A $15 fee is charged for each duplicate transcript or diploma ordered. You can choose between an electronic or printed credential. Verify which type is accepted by your employer and/or college before placing your order. If you earned your diploma in Florida after January 1, 2014, order duplicate credentials through your GED account at GED.com.

After logging in, go to My Scores and select Order Duplicates. Follow the instructions carefully. If you earned your diploma in Florida before January 1, 2014, request duplicate credentials here. How Can I Order or Request a Verification or Credential on Behalf of a Test Taker as a Third Party

Verifications of Florida’s High School Equivalency Diploma earned by passing the GED tests must be ordered from Parchment. The school name will be GED – Florida. For information on setting up and using a Parchment account for verifications, visit the GED Third Party Parchment Support.

If you need the person who earned a State of Florida High School Diploma to provide you with a copy of their diploma and/or transcript, and you do not wish to set up a Parchment account, have the individual order an electronic diploma and/or transcript to be sent to you via email.

How Do I Apply for Disability Accommodations for Florida GED?

To apply for disability accommodations for the Florida GED, follow these steps:

1.   Create an Account on GED.com
