How Can I Request my GED Transcript/Diploma in New York?

Automatic Mailing

If you have passed all GED subjects/subtests and earned a diploma, your transcript and diploma will be automatically mailed to the address in your GED account within 8 to 10 weeks after testing. Ensure you have passing scores of at least 145 in each subject/subtest.

1. Create a my.ny.gov Account: First, create a personal my.ny.gov account to match your HSE record. This will allow you to order duplicate documents online.
2. Order Duplicate Documents: Once logged into my.ny.gov, click on the HSE app and follow the instructions for the candidate match. If a match cannot be made, you can locate your record through a manual search service provided by the HSE Office.

Paper Application

1. Paper Application Form: If you prefer to submit a paper application, you can download the Duplicate Request for HSE Diplomas and/or Transcripts form from the NYSED website.
2. Payment and Submission: Complete the form, include a certified check or money order, and mail it to the NYSED HSE Office. The turnaround time for paper requests is 6 to 10 weeks.

New York GED Retesting Policies

In New York State, if you fail a NYS GED subject test, you must wait 60 days before scheduling a retest for that subject. Additionally, you are only allowed to take a given subject test three times per calendar year. This policy ensures that test-takers have adequate time to study and improve their knowledge before attempting the test again.

• If you miss your scheduled GED test appointment, you must also wait 60 days before rescheduling for the missed subject, regardless of the reason for the absence.
