Calculator:\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For most of the test, you can use either a hand-held or an online version of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/education.ti.com\/en\/products\/calculators\/scientific-calculators\/ti-30xs-mv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Texas Instruments TI-30XS MultiView\u2122 scientific calculator.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Access the online calculator during the exam by clicking the calculator icon, or bring your own hand-held TI-30XS MultiView\u2122 calculator on test day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the first five questions, calculator use is not permitted. Any other formulas should be memorized.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>3.Symbol Selector:\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For some fill-in-the-blank problems, you will need to use symbols from the symbol selector toolbar. You can enable it during the exam by clicking the \u201cSymbol\u201d icon on the light blue toolbar at the top of your screen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the testing center, you will be given a dry erase marker and a wipe-off board to use as scratch paper.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Using the Texas Instruments TI-30XS MultiView\u2122 Calculator<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember: You don&#8217;t have to use the calculator to solve problems; use it only if it&#8217;s relevant or you find it helpful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some tips:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The hand-held calculator has an On\/Off button located at the lower-left corner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0For the online calculator, click the calculator icon on the screen to open it in a new window. Drag the calculator to the side of the screen to avoid covering the problem. When done, click the \u201cX\u201d at the top to close it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0After completing a calculation, press the enter button (there is no \u201cequal sign\u201d button).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Use the white numeric keypad for entering numbers, decimal points, and the negative sign (\u2212) for negative numbers like \u221213.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The operation keys on the right let you add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Use the minus sign for subtraction and the negative sign (\u2212) on the keypad for negative numbers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The bright green 2nd button on the left activates secondary functions (in green above the keys), such as square root, exponent, percent, and mixed number functions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The four arrows at the top right of the calculator move the on screen cursor up, down, left, or right as needed. You might also be required to type a word or phrase to explain your thought process.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>\u00a0Drop-down:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drop-down questions allow you to click on the word \u201cSelect\u201d and choose the correct option to complete the statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>\u00a0Drag-and-Drop:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drag-and-drop items require you to click on an image, number, or symbol and drag it to a specified location on the screen to form an expression, equation, or inequality.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Hot-Spot Questions:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hot-spot questions involve a graphic, such as a number line, coordinate grid, or geometric figure. You&#8217;ll need to click on specific places on the figure.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Accessing the Symbol Selector Toolbar<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some questions will require you to use a specific symbol from the &#8220;symbol selector.&#8221; This feature isn&#8217;t available for all problems. However, when it is, you&#8217;ll see a &#8220;Symbol&#8221; icon that opens this toolbar:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on a symbol to insert it in the appropriate place within an expression, equation, or inequality.
